Slipstream Windows 7 SP1 into a Installation DVD or ISO File

I'm happy to hear that you got it working now. I'm not sure what went wrong using the other way.

I find it odd but not inconceivable since the RT 7 Lite is still in beta form. beta = buggy at times Otherwise it's generally reliable at writes to flash drives as well as the other options.

Here I was looking for a way to fit the 64bit ISO on a 4gb flash drive and ended up using UltraISO for that. But that was already onhand here for other things. Why a few items were omitted is still a bit odd but does go to show you should verify both the finished ISO even extracting to a temp folder as well as crosschecking to verify all files, folders are found on a flash drive or blank dvd burned before use.

With the amount of newer updates now(200 or so) however the next test here will be to an 8gb flash drive with everything added in. First I have to order a few however. I;ve been going with 2gb, 4gb, 16gb, and 32gb sizes!

That's one for the books! The best advice anyone could give you on that one would be starting over fresh as you retrace all the steps you took. Take notes as you go along since that can help pinpoint where the problem is.

Just to update things here a bit for anyone preparing a new slipstreamed ISO to burn to disk or see written to flash drive with all updates Microsoft will be releasing some 20 new patches on Tuesday 12/13 of next week. These are mainly security fixes and the last being seen for 2011.

I have two on a storage presently one with 27 updates along with SP 1 standing at 3.65gb. The second is an unlocked slipstream with SP 1 and IE 9 weighing in at 3.61gb. This is with the 64bit Ultimate.

So you were able to combine both onto one disk. That had to take a bit of compression to be that low in size when you figure about 3.2gb for the 64bit alone and 2.69gb here for the final 32bit iso. Have to give the WinAIO a look to see what a finished dual ISO would look like!

Sounds good! I have a couple of other unlocked isos but likely wouldn't be using them anyways already running the 64bit Ultimate. But I can give them a test as well as the two other slipstreams.
