    Hi,

I did this process successfully, so thank you. However all my Word docs etc and Outlook now no longer work. I tried pointing them at the new location but no success. How can I get Word, Outlook etc to work?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello Mazumi, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I would recommend to change it back. Otherwise, you would need to start fresh with a new account to have them work properly in it.

What do you mean change them back? use the system restore? I really need to change the user name as it is in Japanese characters and some programs will not work without the change. they work now, but my email does not.

In that case, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Office programs.

Hello Brink, I have followed your tuto (im using windows 8.1) but when i get to change the old user name account in netplwiz (18 step) it says that "User Name X could not be changed", dont know why the access is denied if it's an admin account, any ideas? - I'm a bit desperate xD

Hello ThunderRoad, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

The safest way would be to create a new user account with the name you want for the user folder instead. This way you don't have to worry about possible issues of renaming an existing profile folder.

Thanks for the quick answer. I see, then I'll probably do that. It is a bit inconvenient having to reinstall everything but perhaps most quick thing to do. ^^
