any possibility it can be downloaded from microsoft?
If you have a MSN or TechNet subscription you can, otherwise it probably is an illegal download and cannot be discussed in the forum without getting permantently banned.
Thanks for great tutorial but you lost me with the RAID bit. I have a Vista 32 bit RAID 0 pc that I want to do a clean install of Win7 64 bit. Sounds like I will not be able to see my drives as RAID 0 configured unless I install some drivers. Can you tell me where these drivers mght live within Vista Home Premium?
Thanks Mike
I have a dell XPS 430. Tried the Dell website and cannot see any drivers for anything related to RAID.
The best I can recommend is try the installation. There is a good chance it already has the drivers.
Just started follwing the tutorial for a clean install and I got to select the drive but there is no format option? I clicked next hoping it was on the next screen but it has just started installing. Am I looking in the wrong place?
presumably it is now doing a custom install and utting my old files in windwos.old. This si quite a new laptop with little junk so does it really matter if not a clean install?
I wasnt going to partition the drive so didn't look under drive options. However I have 2 partitions. Partion 1 (recovery) which i cant install on as says OEM reserved, but can format . Partition 2 which the format option is greyed out?
Should I keep the OEM partition or delete it and try and format the whole drive?
most pcs come with this small recovery partition, but not sure what is stored in their. Will the win7 install create something similar?

Hello Masplin,
Since you have created a set of OEM Factory Recovery discs to be able to use to restore your previous OS (one that came with computer) instead of from the recovery partition, you can "delete" all partitions if you like. Afterwards you can do a clean install of Windows 7 on the one selected unallocated space left.
Hope this helps,
