    error message

When i get to the screen where it asks me to select the partition i run into a problem. I've tried using unallocated space, ive tried creating a partition for the full amount of the disk, i've tried only partitioning half of the disk, clicking format after creating the partitions... you get the point. No matter which way i go, it keeps giving me the same alert message at the bottom: "setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition."

In one of the other posts i saw that creating the partition somehow resulted in a "system reserved partition" designation, but i cannot get that to come up. All i get when i click on "new" is disk 1 partition 1 Primary.

    Any help would be awesome!

Disk 0 is another hdd (1tb) that is just used for media storage... do i need to switch the cables so that they are in the reverse order?

I put the system together on my own, just bought parts off newegg... it's been working great for almost 2 years now, but i'm having trouble playing newer games (sc2, civ5) and i was hoping that upgrading to w7 and getting directx11 would help!

Put the HDD you are putting the OS on in port 0.

Unplug the other HDD until after Win7 is installed.

Hello DaZapper, and welcome to Seven Forums.

What type of Windows 7 installion media are you using, and where did you get your copy of Windows 7 from?

    Thanks for the help

I use windows 7 professional 64bit and its a burned disc that I got from a relative. I have used it before to do a clean install on the same computer but now it just goes to a black screen with cursor instead of the windows 7 install window, please help.
