    The article below can give more details, but basically here are the sizes: :)

    Understanding Crash Dump Files - Ask the Performance Team - Site Home - TechNet Blogs


    Complete Memory Dump: Amount of installed RAM + 1MB

    Kernal Memory Dump: The size of a kernel memory dump will vary depending on the amount of kernel-mode memory allocated and the drivers loaded. See link for more details.

    Small Memory Dump: 64KB (32-bit Windows) OR 128KB (64-bit Windows)

    Thank you for the helpful tutorial. I am new at this, so please tolerate my questions. My system was already set to to create a Kernel Dump file -- but I wouldn't have known that without your excellent tutorial. My system did the BSOD earlier today and now I'm trying to find that file. I may not be able to figure out what it says, but I figure it is a place to look since I have tried everything else I have found -- updating drivers, running system tests, etc.

    Can you tell me how to actually find the dump file that was created?
