I thought I did answer, now I understand what your asking g....
Yes, yes I did boot is as the UEFI device.....

If your stick is bootable and UEFI is Enabled it should offer a UEFI boot choice unless another setting is being overlooked.

GPT for UEFI device with legacy off secure boot enabled - stops at BOOT IMAGE DID NOT AUTHENTICATE
GPT for UEFI device with legacy off secure boot disabled - locks up shortly after STARTING WINDOWS splash screen
GPT for UEFI device with legacy on - asking for drivers
MBR for UEFI device with legacy off secure boot enabled - stops at BOOT IMAGE DID NOT AUTHENTICATE
MBR for UEFI device with legacy off - locks up shortly after STARTING WINDOWS splash screen
MBR for UEFI device with legacy on - asking for drivers
MBR for UEFI not booted as UEFI - No Bootable Device
MBR for BIOS booted as UEFI legacy enabled - asking for drivers
MBR for BIOS booted as UEFI legacy disabled secure boot enabled - BOOT IMAGE DID NOT AUTHENTICATE
MBR for BIOS booted as UEFI legacy disabled secure boot disabled - locks up shortly after STARTING WINDOWS splash screen

There is no MBR for UEFI. UEFI requires GPT disk formatting. Nor will WIn7 ever install with Secure Boot enabled.

It will also never install to MBR formatted disk without Legacy enabled. MBR is legacy.

Therefore the only two possible attempts made are:
GPT for UEFI device with legacy on - asking for drivers
MBR for BIOS booted as UEFI legacy enabled - asking for drivers

Since these both have in common that it is asking for drivers, that always means that the installer is bad. If you used the same ISO then it may not have fully downloaded or became corrupt. So I would download another ISO and write to stick using Method One in UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows for UEFI. If this fails try another stick.

I would also see if you can borrow a DVD drive.

That was the options in RUFUS, I used all 3 just to try anything.
I will make a new ISO of 7 and try that, I will also try to find a USB dvd reader.

Hi Guys thanks for tutorial, Ive just installed a Seagate ST1000DX001 1TB 3.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD) Hybrid 8GB SSD Hard Drive into a friends new system (see specs on my profile) and had a bit of a problem. Initially I set it up with MBR and 2 partitions (system & backup) but it wouldnt install saying it wasnt a GPT format disk, even tho it recognised the drive ok.
The bios setting was on AHCI. (I thought about changing it to IDE ..) So I wiped eveything and changed it to a GPT.
Then created 2 partitions as above (primary and backup) but didn't format them. When i came to install I got the same error message. Only when i deleted the partitions was i able to install, but this time it only created 2 the 100MB and the main primary.
My question is this I usually use AOMEI backup to create re install images. Can I alter the main partition size and will it affect the system from working ok? also why does this happen, I've done this many times previously on standard drives with a EUFI bios and not had any problems.
many thanks
glenn

To have a Legacy install to MBR disk on a UEFI firmware BIOS you'd need to change the BIOS settings to Legacy BIOS, CSM, and choose the boot media as a Legacy and not EFI device. Then you shouldn't have gotten the error, providing the BIOS settings are all correct.

It sounds like you went ahead with a UEFI install which is achieved as you found by deleting all partitions to create and format new (or in some cases the installer will do this for you by clicking Next) . if you plan to keep this install which is fine then you'll need to confirm that your imaging suite supports UEFI. If not most of us here recommend Macrium Imaging - Windows 7 Help Forums

Thanks for the reply Greg, yes i did in the end, and AOMEI does support both GPT and EUFI boot, so theres no problem there.
My main concern was that if I tried to resize the partition (the 931Gb partition) would it damage the windows install at all? it never had in the past but i havent worked on a lot of GPT/EUFI setups.
thanks

Disk Management can shrink a partition from the right, although it will not be able to move any System files which are running at the time.

Otherwise to be safest and include maximum space use Partition Wizard boot disk to Resize Partition - Partition Wizard Video Help.

Once the disk is partitioned to move space from one to another partition even if they're not adjacent use How to extend partition easily with Partition Wizard - video help.

I recently purchased an Asus X205TA running Windows 8.1. The problem is that I wanted to run Windows 7 in it as the Health Authority software which I use does not work on Windows 8. The system has a UEFI. I made a bootable USB from RUFUS but when the USB is connected to the system and even after doing all the mentioned procedures: 1. disabling Secure Boot. 2. Changing the USB controller to EHCI. 3. Setting up Administrator and User passwords and saving everything every time - does not bring up the USB or anything in The Boot Option Priorities.
I'm stuck here... need help... any suggestions?

The UEFI does not have a legacy menu to switch it to BIOS mode
