Here is a photo from Snipping tool. It's just a continual loop, and does nothing.

Youre going to have to give more detail than that. Post some screen capture images of the problem.

Need backup script

Hello Golden,

I want to backup my PC D-drive 5 times in a week to my network drive. Could you please write a script to achieve this. Below is my requirement.

--Everyday full backup
-- Want to retain the last 5 days backups
-- script should create directory everyday and take the backup into that directory
-- It should delete the directory, if the days exceeds more than 5.
-- It should have only last five days backup

Please help me.

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks & Best Regards,
SRAMB1

Golden, it works great if I double click on the .bat file, but when I try using task scheduler it is failing. I've looked through the tutorial you referenced, but still no go.

Systems are on domain, bat file has been place on C drive and on user's Desktop, but am currently getting 0x3 as last run result when testing (although the script does appear to run).

robocopy c:\users\username \\servername\share\username /e np /tee /mt /XA:SH /XF Recycler* /r:3 /w:10 /XJ /XD AppData

Any thoughts? Today we are supposed to "go live" with this, and I just found the bug.

XF = exclude file

/XF RECYCLER* or whatever the recycler is called?

Hi,

I'm not sure whats going on there, but the one thing I noticed is that you seem to be running the .BAT from within a Robocopy Batch directory on your desktop. Try placing the .BAT file directly on your desktop, and then running it from there.

Hi,

I'm not really sure what the solution is. I'll see if I can get more help with this.

Had same problem, cause i used notepad, and then renamed to *.bat for my script.

did a new blank page in notepadd++, copied the script into that, saved it as a bat file in notepadd++ and viola, script was working as intended.

Now i don't get this continous rolling in a prompt anymore
