How to Create a Hibernate Shortcut in Windows

information   Information
This tutorial will show you how to create a shortcut for Hibernation on the desktop. This can then be moved anywhere you like.
warning   Warning
You will need to enable hibernate for this hibernate shortcut to work. Otherwise it will put your computer to sleep instead.

Step 1: Right click on the desktop and select New -> Shortcut

Step 2: Type this into the location field:
C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0

Step 3: Name it whatever you would like:

You now have your Hibernation shortcut!

Step 4 (optional): Change the icon to something meaningful. Right click on the shortcut, and select Properties. In the Shortcut tab, choose "Change Icon". You can use the default icons in there, or choose from the power icons by clicking browse, and typing this:

%SystemRoot%\System32\powrprof.dll

Step 5: Enable hibernate.

All done!

User Account Control pops up

I followed the instructions to create a hibernate shortcut in Windows 7. When I use it, a window from User Account Control pops up asking "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" I would rather not disable UAC - is there another way to avoid being prompted?

Teffy
P.S. Thanks for an awesome site!
