Bob,
I was starting to think that was the problem. I'll add an addition to that step for fat32. What is the storage size on the USB drive?

Umm, I'm not sure why it wouldn't let you format it as NTFS, but FAT32 will do just as well.
Hi Shawn everything went ok but it would not install on my Dell Inspiron 545 MT. It recognised it in boot menu as generic usb flash drive and I selected it. Now I'm thinking it is just the flash drive itself.

Hi Shawn I purchased a new 8GB Corsair Flash Voyager and no problems this time even formatted to NTFS.
Thanks Shawn

That's great news Bob. Well, at least you can still use the other one with FAT32 at boot. :)
While Diskpart doesn't support removable drives under XP, there are applications which simplify this process. I use the freeware app BootSage as it does most of the work for me (and works under XP), but there are other apps which can further customize the flash drive.
Any way to lock the USB from being written to after doing this? And would this work for the AIO image I made?
Hello Michael,
You would need to have some sort of 3rd party write protection program installed on the USB stick to prevent it from being written to on any computers. Some USB sticks come with this software.
I'm afraid that I do not know what program is for a AIO image, or if it will work or not.
