Great catch on the usb flash drive method. We were just discussing which was the fastest way to see the 7077 installed on one thread bringing in the flash drive option.

I'll have to give this one a try once the drive is free from the ubuntu installation currently seen there. The 16gb drive will easily cover that plus leave room for storing the other files stored there on a separate partition.

Blast! Now I'll have to shrink down the single large Fat32 volume in order to replace the large ntfs volume used for storage!

and the usual success story seen later...

That then revealed the two ntfs partitions were replaced by the single Fat volume with the new name for the drive as well changing that from Recovery to the 7077 build name used for this.

A closer look at that after the usb label was renamed to the build's name there.

What really turned out to be off interest however was seeing the installer start right up when tried since the usb drive evidently isolates that from the compatibility issues!

    Hello Discography,

If you do not have a copy of the Windows 7 ISO file that you have downloaded, then you can create a ISO file from the burned Windows 7 DVD instead with a free program like ImgBurn.

    Hope this helps,

One thing I fould with certain torrents used for downloading is that you will the torrent itself along with one other file in one folder and then have to look in "users>user name>downloads" to see the iso tucked away there rather then in a custom folder you designate for it.

If you still have the iso image stored on the drive somewhere and a large enough usb flash drive you are all set. Otherwise you would need to wait for the next iso image to become available.

Thanks for a very useful guide. I followed the guide to the letter, changed my boot priority disks in the bios, but then I get an error when I try to boot from the USB. The error is related to the:

/Boot/bcd file (it seems the boot system is unable to locate this file).

What can I do to resolve this issue?

    thanks - Punda

Hello Punda, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

Which method did you use? You might try the other method to see if you have better luck with it instead as a test.

Thanks for the welcome. I used the automatic method. I will try the manual method and see.
