Hmm no, with some files it happens, when i copy just one picture. And when i am in my flash drive File Manager, i cannot even copy one file to another folder without automatically closing the window, returning me to desktop, without any job being done. All windows close in the bar down there.
I have like 2GB RAM.

Yes this is an excellent way of retrieving data and I have used it and a Ubuntu boot I got onto a long time a go to do just about the same. The best bit is being able to get data from "dead" drives

It sounds like you are copying to the same flash drive used to boot Peppermint. Being able to do that depends on whether you formatted the flash drive with some file saving persistence.

I suggest you use a 2nd USB drive to copy the files to.

Hello Colin mate I have seen in PC mag a stick called Fixme stick that will boot rescue disks of different types do you reckon I could use this titoorial to make one and put those rescue scanner son it as the Fixme stick costs $90.

I should mention that the rescue diskds on thta bought for one do update the scanners data base before running.

Ok Colin yep I had seen that too and have downloaded some AV scanners onto a stick but haven't had chance to try it out yet. One thing about Yumi it gives you a limited number of AV scanners but I found just downloading the non existent ones Yumi found them and puts them onto the stick.

Just a BIG thank you...

I just made an account on here to say a huge thank you to users Golden (OP) and Jumanji. Following their instructions using peppermint on a broken/dead hard drive, allowed me to recover ALL of my important documents that I had on there and thought was forever lost after spending days trying to find solutions from the windows 'blue screen of death' that killed it. So thanks again guys and sorry Microsoft but I am now converting over to APPLE!

Edit: Oh yeah, and if you get the "Unable to mount sda error" when using peppermint to access your hdd, following the ntfsfix solutions in the comments of this link helped solve that for me:
