Hello Rich, and welcome to Seven Forums.

A logical partition will behave the same as a primary partition will for this.

Since you are wanting to shrink a middle partition, you would be better off using the free Partition Wizard Home Edition instead to shrink C. Afterwards, you can install XP on the new partition.

Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi,
I hv a question. My hard disk size is 500gb. minus the reserved drive of 12GB, and the actual hard disk space is 450gb. I had shrink the c drive and it gives me a max of 280gb. My D drive is 180gb.
How do I increase the size of my D drive so it will have more than 300gb and the c drive to have less?
Hope you guys can help.
Thanks.

Post a snip of your Disk Management so that we can see what the current situation is.

My computer has been working for a while now. I guess the problem was the ch0 master s-ata cable. I changed it after getting disk read error and it booted fine. Time will show if it really was the cable and not motherboard or something else. I just went to DFI Club support forum to ask about the problem. They told me to change the cable and it worked. So thanks Shawn, for these great advices for now. This whole problem was kinda off topic but anyways.
