Desktop Background - Change

What bothers me is that I have to reset the picture position every time I change the desktop background (which I do a few times per day). I always use "stretch", but next time I have to do it all over again.

Hello Wolfgang,

You might give the desktop slideshow feature a try to see if it may work better for you for this. You can place some background images into a folder to have your background shuffle through them once a day, 12 hours, or however often you like. Maybe having it done automatically like this will prevent you from having to change the position.

Thanks Shawn, I was considering that, but I change my desktops by whim selecting from my appr. 10.000 pictures - whatever turns up on my sidebar slideshow that I like. So it is not really predifined. I think this is an example where "progress" is actually a step backwards. It's not a big deal, but I thought I'll have a look whether there is an "elegant" solution.

The strange part is that I can go in and have "Stretch" set as the position, then select another image there or at another location and it still remain on "Stretch". I'm not sure why yours is not.

On some pictures, that is true for me too. I think it depends on the size (pixels) of the picture. The pictures with many pixels just fill the screen naturally - my theory, but I might be wrong.

All my images are the same type and about the same size, so you are probably right about that.

is it possible to select images from multiple files as there are a couple windows defaults id like to use or do i have to locate them and put them in the same folder as the other ones

Hello K0tkoj, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This is where the Picture Library can come in handy. You can include each folder that these images are in into the Picture Library. This way all you have to do is select the Picture Library in this tutorial to be able to select from all these images for the desktop background, and still have them only stored in their original locations. :)

I didnt see this covered anywhere, but my background keeps reverting to the Stretch position and in many cases wont even go back to the center position when I tell it to. Is there any reason behind that?

Hello Plough, and welcome to Seven Forums.

What is your screen resolution set to? Is it set to the native resolution for your monitor? If not, then this could cause some distortion as well.

What are the dimensions of the wallpapers that this is happening with? I have seen this happen in Vista before when the wallpaper's length and width are to big compared to the screen resolution in either one direction. Try making the images as close to the screen resolution size as you can to see if that may help.

Does it do this with the default sample backgrounds as well? If so, then you might see if running a sfc /scannow command may be able to help.
