No worries Mipset.

You could do a custom install of Windows 7 instead. This is like a clean install except that it creates a C:\Windows.old folder during the custom installation that will contain a copy of your current installation in it as a backup. After the custom install is done, you can copy what you want from within the C:\Windows.old folder back into your new installation.

You will still have to reinstall all of your programs and drivers though.

Hi Brink,

I have seen the Windows.old folder before, when I upgraded from my Ultimate Vista 32x to my current Win7Pro64x, however in that folder, it only retains the windows installation, but not any of my documents.

Are you certain everything will be okay? I'm super nervous, I have many important documents I can't spare to lose.

Regards,
Mipset

They have always been there for me in the C:\Windows.old folder when doing a custom install of Windows 7 from Windows 7.

Sorry, but I don't see the other steps. In any case, I think my problem is that the font kalinga.ttf is corrupt. How can I get this font and what do I have to do to install it? Thank you.......

Nisko,

When you click on the link in the post above to go to the first page, be sure that you are scrolling down the page with your arrow keys to see the other steps.

The font issue is a different topic than what this tutorial is for, so you would be best to post about that issue in a new thread instead for better help on it.

Thanks for the effort - but it didn't work. I;m going to have to re-read the log to see if I missed something.
