Good One!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Brink.
You're the canine accoutrements! I should have read it properly first time. Worked a treat and now fully restored.
Really well laid out instructions and outcomes explained. It restores one's faith in the altruistic possibilities of global community helping one another.
Well it seems to have worked fine for me mate using step 4 (using my Windows 7 HP 64bit installation disk without SP1).. I had to uninstall my Anti-Virus (Microsoft Security Essentials) before I could reinstall Windows 7 64bit Service pack 1 and then reinstall it (the anti-virus) again afterwards, other than that,no problems at all.. God Bless America.. thanks Shawn.... SanTelm
So I tried this with a win 7 pro retail cd no sp1. I de-installed sp1 first then did the process. It comes up with a message that states you can't upgrade win 7 pro to win 7 pro and has me either go back to do a full install or click ok to cancel. Thoughts? I followed every step to the letter near as I can tell.
Thanks,
Chuck
Hello Chuck,
You might also consider leaving SP1 installed, and use step 4 with a Digital River ISO w/SP1 that the same as what you have installed. :)
Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life
Ok I'll dl it. Will I be able to use my same activation key from my retail version of win 7?
Thanks!
Chuck
Hi Brink,
Is it possible to use a retail Windows 7 SP1 installation disc to do a repair install on a currently installed OEM Windows 7 (SP1 NOT installed); and use the Product Key on the bottom of my laptop?
I had no W7 installation disk with my HP laptop, so will use the Digital River download ISO to make a disk.
Also, I don't see an equivalent Vista thread for this. My wifes lappy has OEM Vista Home basic on it (no service pack). I have a full retail Vista SP2 Ultimate DVD; can this be used to do a repair install on her laptop, and use her Product key?
Thanks
Kevin
