Repair Install

    Your current version of Windows is more recent than the version you are trying to upgrade to. Windows cannot complete the upgrade.
    Does your installation disk include SP1? You could try going to either of the two links directly above your post, download a new ISO file and burn a new installation disk in case yours was damaged in some way.

    Hello Pragnesh,

    The problem is that the installation media is an older version that what you currently have installed, so you will not be able to do an in-place upgrade to the same since it's not.

    Did you use an installation DVD/USB created from a Windows 7 SP1 Media Refresh (SP1 U) ISO file from the link under step 5, or the ISO for step 4?

    Oh no I didnt. I am trying to use the same media I used for installation when I installed Windows 7 for the first time. Let me download the new one and then reply back. Thanks guys

    By the way, how much is the SP1 Professional in Size?

    I downloaded the Windows 7 Professional x86 SP1 U (media refresh) X17-59183.iso and when I started downloading, it said about 2.4Gb, when it finished, it's only 2,122,420. Why so much difference? I downloaded twice and same thing happened. It stopped downloading after it passed the 2GB mark for some reason.

    It shows as a 2.38 GB file for me as well that should be at 2,495,611 KB.

    It sounds like the download is getting interrupted. Are you using any sort of download manager, or just Internet Explorer?

    Didnt use any download manager. Used Chrome both times. Currently using Internet Explorer and it shows the file at 2.38GB. Let's see if it works.

    By the way this happens a lot with me regarding large files. Is this a common occurrence? Any large files and it almost never downloads it fully. I always have to re-download it or do it at College.

    The download could be timing out on you after X amount of time or size for a number of reasons. Do you have anything installed that may limit your downloads?

    Ok so I downloaded it in Internet Explorer and I received the full file. I was able to repair install it with the CD even though it took a while. It didn't solve my problem with the timing: Windows time doesnt start. But all in all, it was a good experience.
