More problems with error 80073712

I've been trying several solutions to glitches with my system, such as I can't run SFC /SCANNOW to complete past 12% no matter what I try and I'm getting occasional hangs that are worrisome. Ater 10 days of this, I think it's time for a repair install to correct probable corrupted files. I followed your post on how to do the repair install and have downloaded the x17-58465.iso file to my local drive which is 3.09GB (3,243,070KB) in size. Ive burned this file, using Windows Disc Image Burner to a DVD-ROM and was finalized and verified. The disk looks to be about 90% full. It then went next to check on the file size on the disk and Win Expl. shows there are 9 files on it and a 10th desktop .ini file waiting to be burned to it. The 9 files are no where near 3.09GB with: autorun 1kb, boot 0kb, bootmgr 375kb, bootmgr.efi 654kb, efi 0kb, setup.exe 105kb, sources 0kb, support 0kb and upgrade 0kb. Is this what it should look like? If so do I just select setup.exe and follow the rest of the instructions? Thanks.

Yep, you would just need to run the setup.exe file to start the repair install.

You won't actually see the full size of some of the folders on the DVD until you open them, but 90% full is about right. :)

Thanks very much Brink. One last question - I think. Will the repair disk I just created work on any PC that has the same OS that was burned to the disk to match the OS already installed in the PC or is it good only for the PC that created it?

Yep, you can use it on any PC that has the same OS as on the installation DVD. :)
