I tried This way using the download, and still doesn't work.
I'm running 7057 64bit, the only thing that I really see that is differant from the how to's is my resolution is 2560x1600.
Here is a SS of my backgrounds folders. Hello Muratus,
Is your image over 256 KB in size? If so, it will not work. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2

Double check to make sure that all images in the folder are below this size, and that you have merged the .reg file to enable this.
You might also try removing the 2560x1600 file as a test to see if it will work with just the backgroundDefault.jpg file. It will be stretched to fit though. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2

Yup, everything looks correct.
Here is a SS with the regs editor open to the correct place and correct value & the details of the images in the backgrounds folder.
I've tried setting them to read only also.
Just having the backgroundDefault.jpg didn't work. But it's the same size also. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Windows 7 Ult 64 bit - RC 7600 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-DS5 Memory G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Graphics Card XFX GeForce GTX 295 Sound Card On-Board HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 30" Samsung SyncMaster 305T / 22" Acer AL2223W Screen Resolution 2560 x 1600 / 1050 x 1680 Portrait Keyboard Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 Mouse Microsoft Sidewinder X8 PSU COOLMAX CUQ-1200B 1200W Case Lain Li (Rocket Fish Model) Full Alum Cooling AC Freezer 64 Pro CPU, 6 - 120mm Cooler Master Red LED Fans Hard Drives 160 Gb Western Digital SATAII

ok, Just got it. I resized the backgroundDefault.jpg to 1900x1200 and tried it with only that.
IT WORKED. lol
So I'm guessing there is a max size also 2560x1600 images do not work but 1900x1200 works on computers with 2560x1600 resolution. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Windows 7 Ult 64 bit - RC 7600 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-DS5 Memory G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Graphics Card XFX GeForce GTX 295 Sound Card On-Board HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 30" Samsung SyncMaster 305T / 22" Acer AL2223W Screen Resolution 2560 x 1600 / 1050 x 1680 Portrait Keyboard Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 Mouse Microsoft Sidewinder X8 PSU COOLMAX CUQ-1200B 1200W Case Lain Li (Rocket Fish Model) Full Alum Cooling AC Freezer 64 Pro CPU, 6 - 120mm Cooler Master Red LED Fans Hard Drives 160 Gb Western Digital SATAII

Hi everybody
One caveat with this
If you CHANGE your desktop background (not the LOGON screen BTW -- this is the desktop image in "Personalize") / theme / User picture (the little square box you see by your user name) then you need to re-run the registry fix again otherwise you'll just get the bog standard default logon screen again.
It also fails if you have a "Slideshow" desktop -- pictures changing every 30 mins.
Any good "Scripters" out there
A script which fixes the Registry everytime you change the desktop background would be better or even better still something that stops it being re-set unless you explicitly want it to.
(Note please don't confuse Desktop Backgrond (Wallpaper) with the Logon Screen.)
Cheers

I'm happy to hear that you got it working. I thought that it may have had something to do with the 2560x1600 image. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2

jimbo Hi Jimbo,
Mine still works even after changing the Desktop Background. It may just not work properly in your 7048 build number. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2
