Freezing Hiya,
I also had to rename the Windows Mail folder to something else, then I pasted the "Vista" Windows Mail. However, trying to open Windows Mail makes Windows 7 freeze and just generally slows down completely.
Any ideas?

Hello Siljel, and welcome to Seven Forums.
You might consider using Windows Live Mail instead since Windows Mail support is fading and will not be supported at all in Windows 7 by Microsoft.
If you decide to, then these can help with importing your Windows Mail messages and contacts. Windows Live Mail - Import Windows Mail Messages

Hope this helps,

Ok, I have to admit when I'm wrong. I installed live mail, but during the live installation, I unchecked everything except mail. So none of the other crap was installed. There is no log in, unless you want to. The mail works just like windows mail with more features. I like it. I'm usually slow to change old habits, but give the mail only installation a try, you may like it. I checked silverlight too, for netflix. But this method of installing windows mail does work, I just couldnt get it to save as default mail handler. | My System Specs | | |

I use Win 7 x64 and got it to work OK. Did you miss out step 1 by any chance: take ownership of folders?
I remember having some difficulty on one of my Win 7 partitions (I have 2) and it turned out that I had not, in fact, followed every step exactly as shown.
Once I did it properly then it worked. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware® ALX X58 OS Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate SP1/x64/XP SP3 x86 in VM CPU Intel® Core™ i7-975 Extreme O/C to 4.02 GHz, 8MB Cache Motherboard Asus® P6T Deluxe V2 X58 LGA1366 Memory 12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 6 x 2048MB Graphics Card 1792 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295/Hauppauge HVR2250 TV Tuner Sound Card Onboard Soundmax® High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung XL2370 LED backlit 23" W/S 2ms response time Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 Keyboard Microsoft® Wireless Entertainment 8000 + Logitech® G15 Wired Mouse Microsoft® Wireless Laser 8000 + Logitech® G9 Wired PSU Alienware® 1200 Watt Multi-GPU Case Alienware® P2 ALX Chassis with AlienIce™ 3.0 Video Cooling Cooling Alienware® High-Perf. If you need a Windows Mail folder I uploaded a pristine one to Megaupload ages ago. Anyone is free to use it. I did post the link to it here earlier on I believe but here goes again.

If you are following the tutorial at the first of the post. Then take ownership of your current WM folder then delete it. Replace it with the vista folder you just downloaded and open the exe file. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway GT5692 OS Windows 7 Ulti. x64 CPU AMD Phenom 8450 triple-core 2.10 ghz Memory 4GB Graphics Card ATI Radion HD 3200 Monitor(s) Displays Gateway FPD1775W Screen Resolution 1280x720 Hard Drives 465.6613 Gibibytes All times are GMT -5.
