Hello Kili, and welcome to Seven Forums.
In Windows 7, you should notice a performance improvement from a SATA 2/3 HDD when using AHCI vs IDE mode. :)

Its already in AHCI using a SSD 60GB
and HDD 1TB but the performance rate are same
but it boot really fast is there any way to increase the Performance rate?

Under light to normal usage, you may not notice a difference in performance. If the HDD supports NCQ, then you should notice an improvement while under heavy disk (loading/saving) usage though.
A HDD's performance is also limited to what it's read/write speeds are rated at. This can't be changed unfortunately without getting a new drive that is rated faster. For example a SSD instead of a HDD.

Yes, the title is what it is... I tried to use this method to turn ahci back on after installation... here is what happened:
1.I installed windows with AHCI on initially.
2.I recently updated my BIOS for new cpu support (still waiting for CPU in the post, but thought best to get the support sooner rather than later).
3.Bios update successful, but didn't think to check the settings.
4.Booted into windows, windows installs drivers for all hard disks (Bios set to IDE mode by default).
5. I change the setting back, now when I try to boot in ahci mode i get the error "bootmngr is missing"
6. I try using this tutorial to get the setup back, but the registry value of start is already 0 and makes no difference if I change it. I still get the same error when trying to boot if I change the sata mode to ahci?
Does anybody have a solution for this situation?

Hey everyone,
I am having trouble with this fix as well. I initially installed Win 7 x64 in IDE mode and would like to now change it to AHCI without a reinstall if possible. However the instructions here and in other places (which are all the same) are still causing my OS to boot loop. I can get the one set of SATA ports attached to my optical drives changed to AHCI with no problem but the other set attached to my HDD won't.
Is there anything else further I can try? I noticed for XP people have to manually install drivers. Is there a way to try and do this with Windows 7 and force it to go AHCI on the SATA controller after changing in BIOS.

I could really use some help with this. I have a HD that I'm moving from one system to another.
- The new system is a Gateway DX4860. The old was was also a Gateway DX4820.
- When I put the old drive in the new computer, I get the Windows Splash screen, the stars begin to appear and it resets.
- I went back to the old machine and noticed the BIOS setting for SATA was set to RAID.
- I changed the new system to RAID, it just froze.
- I put a second drive in the new machine and now it boots.
- I installed the AHCI drivers, changed the registry setting to 0, rebooted the machine, and changed the BIOS setting to AHCI from RAID.
- When Windows tries to boot, I'm getting the same behavior as before (I get the Windows Splash screen, the stars begin to appear and it resets).
This is for Windows 7 BTW.
I'd very much appreciate some help with this.
