I agree sometimes I leave my computer on for days and wish I would have had a restore point now I will.

Hello futuristic6, welcome to Seven Forums!

When you open the Start Menu / Startup File like in the snip below, what do you see?

Is the "Create System Restore Point" shortcut there, like in Step #4 of the tutorial?

Hello Futuristic, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It sounds like your VBS file extension association may be messed up. Download and merge the VBS option in the tutorial below to see if the Instant restore point works afterwards.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

Hope this helps,

Issues with System restore

Hi,

I can now create automatic system restore. But I have an irritating problem.

Whenever I shutdown and reboot my laptop, Everytime, I need to remerge the default VBS file. Is there a way I can solve the problem permanently?

I also noticed that when I go "Open with"and go to "other programs" the option stating "always use this program to open this kind of file is greyed out"and I cannot check thsi option.

I use win 7 64 bit OS.

Thanks for all the help.

Hello Futuristic,

Unless you really have a need to create a restore point at every startup, I wouldn't recommend doing this since it will use up all of your max restore space faster and delete older restore points faster.

Did you unblock the VBS file?

What are you using "Open with" on, and where are you using it at (ex: in Default Programs or right clicking on file)?
