    Hello mate.

What happens if you click the shortcut in the "Startup" folder, does it create a restore point?

Thanks for that. Just one thing: Is it possible to assign permanent approval for the Startup script to be run, thus avoiding the ongoing need for permission? I have UAC set to "Ask me only when a prog wants to run.." and I'd rather keep it that way. Is there any way to set an individual permission for the file, so that it's independent of UAC control?

    Hello Teckneeculler,

See if using the tutorial below with the VBS shortcut that you want to use will allow it to run at startup without a UAC prompt.

Task - Create to Run a Program at Startup and Log On

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

'Task - Create to Run a Program at Startup and Log On'
'Elevated Program Shortcut without UAC Prompt - Create'

Thanks guys, but I can't get either of those two methods to prevent the UAC prompt from asking permission to run "create_srp.vbs" at startup.

If other people here have been able to use the method to run an exe on startup, maybe it's an issue with the vbs file.

I think I'll just turn off UAC and be done with it.

    Cheers
