Hello Berkey,
You could just install on a SSD the same way you would with a HDD. :)
Picked this up from Pebble.
Don't know what to say except "Thank you, thank you... etc"

Dear sevenforums community..
so um, i use a laptop with dual-drive, SSD for my OS, and HDD for my storage. Just installed it recently. and then I read this tweaks and other articles regarding disabling prefetch superfetch drive indexing, and windows search.
1) Now um.. i'm totally okay with disabling the 4 items above on my SSD (OS), but will my notebook HDD storage be affected as well by disabling the 4 services above?
i've read the wiki definition of prefetch, superfetch, and drive indexing on wiki though i still don't understand 100% abt the definitions, a bit IT illiterate :))
2) Does prefetch and superfetch and drive indexing and windows search only works on OS drive, or does it work on storage drives and partitions as well?? FYI, I moved some user folder (music picts and docs to storage drive)
3) So if i disable prefetch superfetch and drive indexing, will it affect my storage HDD performances when i search or access stuff on it...?
Um is it just me or is there just a big blank space where the tutorial is suppose to be at? Anyways here's a screen so you can see what i'm talking about. Would of loved to read more since I just bought a brand new SSD today.
Hello Miguel,
It was due to the tutorial being broken up into smaller parts and the boxes on the right causing the long space despite the short post. I've merged a few of the posts below it into the tutorial to fill it in. :)
Thanks for the tutorial lightningltd, yea like you mentioned having super fetch and all off. I notice no difference in performance, ssd is to fast for it to need those features and saves space. Man these SSD's are fast, feels like my pc has been reborn. Can't imagine living without one now lol. Pc is running great and thanks for the tips.
Since this tut was put together in 2010, is it still valid for today, or is there some recent primer that is now recommended?
Hello msalton,
Yep, it's still valid though today's SSDs are a lot less bothered by reads and writes since most include built-in TRIM. :)
