This is now driving me up the wall

Early evening switched on the laptop and sleep was greyed out

Rebooted it 4 times in a row and it was still greyed out each time.

Went out for the evening, booted it up, sleep back to being active again.

As my laptop is 64 bit should I be using the Q Word 64 bit instead of the D Word 32 bit?

gpedit not being available is also very annoying

Looks like the mystery has been solved.

Sleep greyed out when battery charger mains lead in

Sleep becomes active when you take it out and you don't even need a reboot.

Is it a bug ? Anyone know?
At least my sanity has now returned

Hello Bristolred,

My only guess is a possible option in your Advanced Power Plan Settings for what action to do when on battery and not plugged in.

Hope this may help,
Shawn

Reset my power plan (balanced) to default settings then tried to turn things off and on etc. You actually get a few different options when the lead is in, and out.

As it is though I can't get the sleep option greyed out while in battery mode

Double check you "sleep" settings for "On battery" to see if you have them enabled.

Already tried that one Shawn with no luck.

I've got a few other registry tweaks on the go, and they work fine with the mains lead in or out, just this bugger with the lead out, won't take.

Very strange!
