How to Enable or Disable the Internet Explorer Zoom Level Option

This will show you how to enable or disable either the current user or all users to be able to use the Internet Explorer Zoom level option to enlarge or reduce the view of a webpage from 10% to 1000% in Windows 7 or Vista.

EXAMPLE: Internet Explorer Zoom Options Enable and Disabled

OPTION ONE

Using a REG File Download
1. To Enable Internet Explorer Zoom for All Users
A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below.
Enable_All_Users_Internet_Explorer_Zoom.reg
download
B) Go to step 5.
2. To Disable Internet Explorer Zoom for All Users
A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below.
Disable_All_Users_Internet_Explorer_Zoom.reg
download
3. To Disable Internet Explorer Zoom for Current User Only
A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below.
Disable_Current_User_Internet_Explorer_Zoom.reg
download
B) Go to step 5.
4. To Undo Disable Internet Explorer Zoom for Current User Only
NOTE: This will not enable the all users option (step 2) if applied. You will need to use step 1 if you did instead.
A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below.
Undo_Disable_Current_User_Internet_Explorer_Zoom.reg
download
5. Click on Save, and save the .reg file to the desktop.

6. Right click on the downloaded .reg file and click on Merge.

7. Click on Run, Yes, Yes, and OK when prompted.

8. For current user only option, close and reopen Internet Explorer, if already opened, to apply.

9. For all users option, log off and log on, or restart the computer to apply.

10. When done, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.







OPTION TWO

Through the Local Group Policy Editor
1. Open the all users, specific users or groups, or all users except administrators Local Group Policy Editor for how you want this policy applied.
2. In the left pane, click on to expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and Internet Explorer. (see screenshot below)

3. In the right pane, right click on Turn off page zooming functionality and click on Edit. (see screenshot above)

4. To Enable Internet Explorer Zoom for All Users
A) Select (dot) either Not Configured or Disabled. (see screenshot below step 6)
B) Go to step 6.
5. To Disable Internet Explorer Zoom for All Users
A) Select (dot) Enabled. (see screenshot below step 6)
6. Click on OK. (see screenshot below)

7. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.

8. Close and reopen Internet Explorer if already opened.
