This one helped for sure! Shawn When going to install the 32bit 7 on a new vhd for the Virtual PC there a few problems were seen like being booted and online in the 64bit. The screen here shows how everything worked out for the time being.

Hello Seven,

If you activate it, you will not have to worry about it anymore.

It was a big help here since the retail 7 apparently can't be activated on a vhd install like the 32bit RC had been before. This will extend the time long enough to run some tests with 7 on a virtual machine there and not run into any ut ohs!

This is also good for those who want to see how 7 will run on their system as well as getting all things set up and running well before activation especially if any hardware changes like an upgrade come into play.

Yay!!

This tip saved me!! I've been running build 7077. It was to expire March 1. But following the tip info here, I found I had 3 rearms with an ultimate deadline of June 1, 2010. I had to see if it would work even if I'd waste a month. I just tried it. Now instead of "activated" in Computer Properties, it says I have 30 days to activate, and 2 rearms left!!! At least now I can put off reinstalling all my crap for a few more months!!

Be ready for the 2/15 reminders to upgrade to retail, 3/1 shutdown every 2hrs., and then final expiration on 6/1 dates. You'll be right on time for the 3/1 date for the next rearm after two weeks of reminder messages appearing.

That's alright. Anything to get me to where I can buy Windows 7 SP1 integrated, or a PC with that already on. I already did my penance when I tried Vista before SP1. Never again. Not worth all the hours I had to put in fixing that thing!

I ran Vista when that came out and now 7 retail both prior to SP1. I guess 7 turned out to be Vista's SP3! only deducting not adding an SP's worth of... "dead weight"?

Somehow I don't think 7's SP 1 will be something needed out of desparation there however. While Vista out of the box wasn't that bad as claimed 7 certainly has seen a far better edge with it's own start off!

Here the simple answer was "go retail" from the start and worry about SPs later!
