install issue and rearm issue

hello everyone

i have a problem here i think.

i had a legit key that i purchased, it was a 1 time use tech key, i knew that when i bought it i could only activate it once, after that i would ether have to re-buy a key or use an imaged backup if i created one.

well i finally got around to using the key, installed windows etc waited on the key until i had the system updates installed and did all the window updates, i let all the updates go through as i was not expecting any issues since this was a valid key.

well got to the point i wanted to activate and make a backup image.

was goign through the activation and got a message the key was blocked. no real problem i thought, same thing happened every time i installed Microsoft office i purchased through the work plan.

called up gave the numbers it wanted, but this time they couldn't give an activation key/sequence in return becasue they could not verify this was a valid product.

this was a tech download, not any build that had been altered in anyway.

so i thought ok i'd contact where i purchased the key from and such no big deal, then i noticed the time remaining.

3 days, i just installed this on a newly formatted hard drive, not sure what happened to the 30 day trial.

then i though ok, there's a rearming that can be done a few times.

found the directions on how to rearm.

followed them

restarted the pc

still says 3 days left

using direction here i did the windows script host and checked the registry.

the registry shows a 0 like it said too.

ran the script host thing and got some of this info

software licensing service version: 6.1.7601.17514
description: windows operating system- windows (r) retail channel
license status: initial grace period
time remaining: 43200 minutes (30 days)
remaining windows rearm count: 2
trusted time: 10/14/12 1:01:09am

so by that it looks like the rearm worked but the system info still says 3 days

hopefully i can get it resolved in those 3 days just in case

don't want to use any loaders or workarounds at this point because i want the os system install to remain unaltered at this point in case i get a new key.

so do you all think i should worry about the 3 days it says or trust the script host saying i have 30 days plus two more re-arms left?

thanks

ryan

Hello Ryan, and welcome to Seven Forums.

3 days to activate is the default amount of time when you check the Automatically activate Windows when I'm online box during the installation of Windows 7.

Try doing the tutorial on the first page again to add another 30 days to see what it says in your "System" window afterwards.

i did do that before i even posted.

it stayed at 3 days.

even though the script host says i have 30 days plus 2 more re-arms

so i assume i lost out on the first 30 days becasue of checking that during the install

then i ran the rearm as discribed and thats why it says in the output from the script i have 30 days left

i just don't know why that 3 days hasn't reset as well.

I'm not sure which one to believe either, System or script.

When you did the phone activation, did you wait to talk to an operator to see what they may be able to do?

Hopefully the MS activation operator will be able to activate it for you.
