It only took me two days to figure out why I couldn't get IE to work on my new notebook. I have 23 pages of hand written notes & a bunch of printouts & am not sure how the heck I did it until I go back and read them.
I just joined and saw Capt Jack's run down. WOW. I suspect from what you guys have said his solution works, so my only question is where the heck was I when I needed him (:-] Well, I'm here now. And will be back to browse and maybe even help and return the favor one day. Thanks Capt Jack.
BTW, I suspect now that I got hit with a virus between the time I got the machine and the time I loaded in my virus protection as it appears the virus changing my port number but I am not sure yet. My other machines got me through this mess, but not without the loss of hair
Nice man, it helped me solve my internet problem :)
thanks again, man!
Having just noticed that the Internet Explorer Performance & Safety Troubleshooters no longer appear in the Control Panel's list for a Windows 7 box (running IE10), I thought I might find some information about where they might be hiding by reading the "How to Create a Internet Connections Troubleshoot Shortcut in Windows 7" & "How to Create a Internet Explorer Safety Troubleshoot Shortcut in Windows 7" tutorials linked at the bottom of this tutorial; alas, I'm told I have no permission to view these pages. I suspect that's because these tutorials have been removed, but I thought I'd ask - not least because I also suspect I may get some informatin as to what happened to these troubleshooters themselves from one or another of the Windows 7 Help Forums gurus.
