    How to Reset XP Mode?

I installed the various pieces to give myself an XP Mode virtual machine. I then used the virtual PC to do some stuff. Now I want to "clean up" the virtual PC and return it to its just-installed state.

Presumably I can uninstall and reinstall to accomplish that.

But is there an easier way?

    Thanks.

If you made a backup of your "Windows XP Mode.vhd" (virtural hard drive) file prior to changes, you could restore it. If not, a reinstall is the only way I have found for tinkering screw ups.

Can you get into the VM manager to check for restore points?

That's brilliant! I started the XP Mode machine and picked an early restore point. Looks like all is good. I'll make a backup of VHD etc files against future embarrassments.

    Easy FIX

I had a similar issue, and was unable to find an answer. Here is what I found. Tried to rename the Virtual XP Mode .VHD file and replace it with one from another PC. That failed, but Windows said "Hey, do you want to create a new XP Mode Virtual PC?" I said Hells Yeah!!!! I was then able to start from scratch, as desired.

Hope this helps other lost soles!

A bit late now but after you have VXP set up ( with the gazillion updates ) would it not be easier to check the " undo disc " in settings before any changes ?
