Virtual PC Resolution Problems

I've been trying to play Starcraft on virtual xp (it runs with all sorts of wacky colours in 7) but everytime I try and load it it comes up with the following message:

Virtual PC Resolution Problems-direct-draw-error.png

I know that virtual pc runs with virtual versions of some hardware types and so instead of utilising my Geforce card it uses a virtual graphics card called "S3 Trio 32/64". I've checked and the drivers for this are apparently up to date.

I've even tried to manually change the screen resolution to 640x480 in desktop properties in virtual xp and the option is greyed out. The only thing I've managed so far is an app to open Starcraft in a window but even then it's kind of small...

Has anyone managed to solve this?

Thanks in advance.
