    XP Mode + KIS 2011

I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 installed on my windows 7 x64 system. I was wondering if I should also install it under XP Mode or would it have conflicts with the one installed on the main os? Or would the one that's installed on the main os protect XP Mode?

Your virtual machine is like another machine, installing KIS in it will not harm your system.

    See ya!!

Thanks for the reply it's just that on the kaspersky live chat they told me it's a bad idea and it would conflict with the one on the main os. But then again when I said XP mode they really didn't know what I was talking about. He also said that the one on the main os will detect a file even if it's on XP Mode. I even asked him so why XP Mode ask me to install a antivirus. So should I try it anyway?

They're full of crap. The only impact you may notice is if you try to do an on-demand scan at the same time on both the physical as well as virtual OS because of Disk I/O limitations assuming you're not using either different hard drives or an SSD. But it should not impact either OS as having an anti-virus on both is always good. Just make sure you allocate enough RAM so that your virtual OS (XP Mode) isn't running intolerably slow.
