    Sun VirtualBox

EDIT: I just looked at that list about hardware virtualization compatibility - sounds incorrect to me as this worked on Windows Vista.

Has anyone noticed that Sun VirtualBox doesn't work on Windows 7? I can't seem to get Ubuntu, Mac OS X or Windows XP running at all.

It would say something like this:
    VT-x/AMD-V hardware
    acceleration is not available on
    your system. Certain guests
    (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require
this feature and will fail to boot
    without it.

I tried VMware Workstation - problem exists; instead it loops after the boot manager on Windows or three seconds after the Apple Logo on Macs.

I always do this on Windows Vista - runs smoothly and fast.

Would be great if I get a solution today - not available till another 3 days.

Virtualbox does work on Windows. We discuss virtual pcs on this forum all the time. If you are trying Hackintosh, that may be your problem - not the problem of virtualbox.

In VirtualBox look under Settings->System on the Acceleration tab there is a checkbox to enable/disable VT-x/AMD-V.

Do you know if your system supports hardware virtualization? It may but could be turned off in your BIOS.

I can assure you that VirtualBox supports XP and Ubuntu on Win 7.

Because the T6400 does not support Virtualization, you will need to disable it in Vbox.

best way to run vBox is with a linux host. Only needs 4GB ram to run 32 and 64 bit versions of xp, vista and and 7, all simultaneously

    Thanks for the info guys.
I must just try making a computer my self with expensive parts.

I'll give a rep to Tepid for pointing that out.
    Sorry for the long reply

I've tried Virtualbox with a Windows 7 host but just wondering about running a Windows 7 guest under Ubuntu... does it have any issues when running the latest games for Windows?

You can not run games in a Virtual Machine. There is no Direct 3D virtualization to the Video Card.
There is an experimental Virtual 3D something or other in VBox. But, again, games aren't going to play very well in a VM, if at all.

Games need direct access to Video Hardware to run properly. At this time, it is not possible in any VM.
