    XP Emulator

    Hey Everyone,

I have some software our company needs to use that doesn't run under Win7. I've tried the compatibility mode on the icon of the installed program but this does not work.

Would installing the below help or should I be looking for something else?

    Download Windows XP Mode

    Thanks,

    Sean

In most cases yes, do not use this for anything graphics intensive though.
It acts like a Terminal service client with the host computer so that it is run nativly in XP. Also be sure to grab the update to run without Hardware Assisted Virtualization if your processor does not support this feature.

Install XP Mode. The main purpose of getting XP Mode is to run or emulate older programs (especially those that are XP-only compatible) that are not compatible with Windows 7.

    Hey guys,

I have installed the XP Mode emulator and it is working fine. I am having an issue though that I hope you can help me with.

Within the virtual XP machine I'm running a program called Chepmate. This links back to a database on one of my servers. The Chepmate program starts on the Virtual machine prompting the user to put in their Username and Password, when entered the error message "User ID or password not known". The program is pointing to the server for it's database, verified this in the registry, and appears to be working.
I'm not sure why it will not link to the database and authenticate the user, I'm guessing the path is not seen or there is an permissions issue. (Just a guess)
I can ping the server and browse to it via explorer.

    Hope some one can help.

Ok I've got it all fixed. Appears the software maker has to activate the account before it will work.

    Thanks for the help.
