I recently installed VMware Player on my 7 Pro laptop along with Ubuntu 10.10 as the guest OS. I used all default/recommended settings during both installations. If I shut down my laptop at the end of the day, whenever I restart the VM the time is off by however many hours the laptop was powered down. Even though I have Ubuntu configured to automatically sync with the time server, and the correct time zone is set, and VMware Tools was installed during the Player installation, I still must manually change the time.
Any suggestions or thoughts on how to automatically reset the guest operating system’s clock to match the host’s clock upon startup? NOTE: I'm at work and won't be at my laptop until after 11am CST (about 7 hours from now.) Merry Christmas to all.
EDIT: Got tired of having to manually sync the Ubuntu time to Win 7 so I used a pre-VMware system image and just reinstalled everything. Must have been a glitch with the original installs because everything seems to be working now.
