XP 32 bit or 64 bit for Windows 7 64 bit
If I have windows 7 64 bit installed, what should I install for XP Mode, 64 bit or 32 bit? and which Virtual PC, 64 bit or 32 bit?
Whatever I have read so far, Microsoft states that XP mode provides a 32 bit environment in XP mode. How is that possible when I install both in 64 bit.
Any help in explaining this whole XP Mode will be greatly appreciated.

it's a good question
My guess is you will want to download both 64-bit versions (e.g. 64-bit Windows will require 64-bit drivers). Although it seems that the virtual environment will be 32-bit.

Go for 64-bit on 64-bit. I think it would work better.

yep, XP 64-bit will be fine. The actual XP part I believe is 32-bit while the virtualisation is 64-bit.

i was under the impression that you can only install a 32 bit virtual client.

That is correct well Im betting at the moment, its just the installer package he was asking about.

you're right, i gotta stop skimming posts. lol

Actually, you can't install the 32bit msi. You have to have the 64bit msi if you are running 64bit RC1. Or at least that was the error I got when I first tried with the installation files I was originally given from Microsoft.

The virtual XP that I have appears to be 32 bit.

I have a DVR PCI card that records 8 Cameras. The driver/software for the card won't work with 64 bit windows 7.
I had it setup as a dual boot but I really want to use the Windows 7 more and I found I don't want to shut down my camera recordings to boot into Windows 7.
I currently have 4 Gig of RAM with plans to upgrade.
Should I upgrade to Win7 Pro 64 Bit and install XP 32 bit virtual to run my camera card or will the performanc be lousy?
If I do this should I choose to install Virtual XP 64 bit or Virtual XP 32 bit (keep in mind I need the Virtual XP to install 32 bit drivers for the DVR card, but I've read some posts on here that the Virtual XP 64 bit will run the 32 bit drivers. Is that true?
