How to boot from a vhd?

I have Ultimate, and know that it supports booting from virtual disks.. I am wondering how I would go about configuring that, as I have some games that require direct X, but won't run in a virtual pc environment.. Am hoping I could do that rather then just a dual boot setup.

If you are thinking of booting Windows XP from virtual disk files, then won't work. Only Windows 7 can boot from vhd.

So I can't boot into windows 9x from the vhd? Are you saying that if I have 7 Ultimate, I can only boot from another windows 7 installation on a vhd ?

Windows 7 Ultimate must be the one in the VHD to boot. You can be running any version of Windows on the computer it doesn't matter. But the one in the VHD must be Windows 7 Ultimate.
