    Windows Virtual Machine

When in virtual XP mode, I cannot set the display above 16-bit.
I'm running an ATI Radeon HD 5450 and connected to the monitor via an HDMI cable and have downloaded the driver but to no avail.
Is there any way to solve this?

This may be a silly question but did you install the GFX Driver from within XP mode?

    Thanks for that quick response.
I attempted to but no luck.
Everything is fine in Windows 7.

Am I right in thinking that you have a Laptop? The 5xxx series is HD Mobility series and only available for Laptops. What's the make and model of your machine?

You can not use / install any other GFX adapters on Virtual PC virtual machines than included, emulated S3 Trio. When integration features are installed and enabled, a Virtual PC vm like XP Mode can by default only show 16 bit colors. To use 32 bit, you have to disable integration features.

Some tweaking makes 24 bit possible also when integration is enabled: I got XP mode to display 24-bit color with integration!

Hi Kari. I couldn't find 'Terminal Services' in Windows Components, but then I read the post regarding the registry tweak and it now displays in glorious 24-bit.

    Many thanks for your help.
