Windows Virtual PC - Server 2008
Virtual PC 2007 was capable of running Windows Server 2008 and prior server operating systems as the client OS. Virutal PC 2007 was not compatible with the latest Windows 7 RC. It's replacement, Windows Virtual PC runs great in Windows 7 since it is designed to, but it does not support anything but xp, vista and windows 7 as the client OS. Is anyone aware if Windows Server 2008 32-bit will become a supported client OS for Windows Virtual PC or whether Virtual PC 2007 will have another service pack which allows it to run on Windows 7. If neither of those 2 things come true there is a clear loss of functionality for developers who rely on running server operating systems in a virtual machine.
For anyone who's still reading... :) Virtual Server 2008 will run the server OS's as the client OS, but there is no desktop integration with this product. A developer would basically have to Remote Desktop into the machine with no integration features.
I'm hoping there is something I am missing!
