How to convert Virtualbox to Vmware?
How do you convert virtualbox 4.04 images to vmware player images?
How do you convert virtualbox 4.04 images to vmware player images?
Yeah but the problem is that you need to regester with vmware which they want your location which I don't know what they're going to use that for
You need to register with vmware to download the vmware player too.
If you are concerned with security and privacy, setup a fake email address and register a fake address. I've been using vmware products for years and have been registered with them for many years and all has been fine for me.
I tried that but my windows 98 virtual machine won't appear when I try to open it
To get it to work do you need any extra steps?
Sorry, Windows 98 is not a supported OS for VMWare converter. I don't know of any way to convert a 98 machine. I haven't seen one in probably 10 years.
I also tried it with a windows XP virtual machine and it did'nt work either
I wonder if it's because they are virtual machines on another platform.
Here is the official documentation from VMWare and it supports 32/64bit versions of XP.
VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 4.0 Release Notes
Hi there
slightly different method but this approach will normally work.
Backup the Virtual OS on VBOX via imaging software such as Acronis True Image.
Start vmware player and as your Virtual machine run the STAND ALONE version of Acronis Restore --select the Universal Restore options too as this will take care of minor virtual hardware differences between an XP VM using VBOX and VMWARE.
Now reboot your restored VM under VMWARE. You might get a couple of "Installing drivers" but it should work.
Install vmtools once the vm is powered on and running OK.
The main problem will probably be in the Virtual Network device but VMWARE tools install should fix that.
Cheers
