VMWare without question. Primary reason because I run and admin VMWare servers at work. So, familiarity with the product is the main reason that I choose VMware. Plus, I'm considering getting vmware certified here soon...so the more I use their products, the better off that I am. I run vmware player mostly for personal use and ESXi whenever and whereever I can.

Virtual box has amazing things bundled in with it like "guest os aditions" Some linux distros include them by default even in the installer. Like with Suse it starts to work while the installer is asking you questions. With those installed it makes it like a surreal experience. There is no mouse and keyboard capture anymore it's all integrate. for example, putting the linux window side by side and "mousing over" and item in linux highlights it just like if it was a native window, moving back to the os is the same thing.
Also in your bios if you enable nested paging it can take Full advantage of your 64 bit processor allowing both os's to run seamlessly.
The network card is patched through with a special driver giving it a native feel in the guest os. Dynamically expanding storage and a huge preset of already configured systems for Virtual box makes it the choice for me.
By default it is very verbose explaining to you what exactly is going on, and what you need to do to optimize it for near native performance.
I only used vmware and virtual pc in their early days so I am not sure if they now have that functionality.

VMware also has the functionality that you mention. In fact, when you install a guest in VMWare Player, it detects what OS it is from the start, and answers nearly every install question for you and also automatically installs the vmware tools...which are the equivalent to the virtual machine additions. Don't forget, VMWare practically invested virtualization as it exists today.

Virtual PC only supports Windows OSes so has too limited of a scope. I like VMWare but it has gotten too big and commercialized for my taste. For Enterprise type work I would use VMWare but for my personal use I prefer VirtualBox.

I've tried all 3 and the reason VMware was chosen was based on 4 older XP compatible PC games that all seemed to run properly in VMware and not the others.

VMWARE is a very good soft. Virtual PC is to limited and virtualbox, I don't try.

My vote goes to VmWare,for me the best. I haven't used Virtual PC. For Virtual Box... I have used it on my Ubuntu for a some time,it's also good.
