vmware esxi 4.1 vs 4.1 U1
I think I'll stick with 4.1 rather than 4.1 upgrade 1 - silly reason but valid.
I have a USB photo (but expensive pro quality) printer (not network) which I attach to 3 VM's.
When the VM's are powered on the USB device is connected to the VM -- no prob --even if all 3 are powered on concurrently.
In the upgrade U1 I get a message on TWO of the VM's : USB device unavailable - presumably because ESXi has determined the device is already in use.
Maybe a bug in the 4.1 base release but the upgrade version seems too restrictive in this regard.
I know really I should go for a LAN printer -- maybe USB==> Lan and then plug the printer into the lan.
I got round the problem in 4.1 U1 by assigning the printer to a specific VM and then SHARING this printer to the other VM's -- disadvantage here of course that the VM the printer is attached to must be up and running.
