Virtual PC cannot see host network

I have done as you instructed. The WinXP VPC I set up can see the internet but for some reason it does not see the host Windows 7 machine. When I ping the host from the VPC I get no response. I can ping the VPC from the host machine. I intend to run the ArcInfo license of ArcGIS Desktop on the VPC. That license requires communication with a license server. The license server is running on my host machine. If I can't ping the host then I won't be able to use the license server.

I have done this on another machine with WinXP as both the host machine and the VPC and the VPC can see the host via ping.

I've turned off all the firewalls but no joy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Kari,
No Joy. I read thru the post you referenced. I think I've already done all that. I just went thru changing the workgroup name to the default name "WORKGROUP" on both machines but that didn't work. I'm thinking it must be something with the firewall on the Windows 7 host machine but I'm not seeing it. Again, I can ping the WinXP virtual machine from the Windows 7 host. I cannot ping the Windows 7 host from the WinXP virtual. I've also tried using the Loopback adapter but that isn't working either.

Maybe I should reinstall VPC on the host. any issues with doing that?

I downloaded WinXP mode executable from the MSDN site. I do have integration components installed and enabled.

i have the same issue. Is there any solution for this?

It turns out the problem was caused by the CheckPoint VPN software I had installed on the host machine. Once I removed it from the host I could ping the host from a Virtual PC/WinXP Mode session. However, now I can't ping a Virtual PC session from the host machine.
