Java Issues

Hello all,
I have just started having java issues on my machine and it is driving me crazy.
Java was installed on my system and was running fine until Thursday afternoon and then i started having problems getting into Pogo.
I have tried to install the latest java and it states that it is installed successfully but when i go to look for it in programs it isnt there.
Every time i try to load a pogo game the window appears but before the java logo comes up to load it shuts the window down.
I have tried everything even updating my Internet Explorer to IE9 which i do not like but now i cant even uninstall that and go back to IE8.
I have tried for months now to install Windows 7 SP1 and that fails continually and i only bring up these issues with the hope that it may assist in solving my troubles and not to confuse.
The last thing that is now happeneing is that i try to download and install the latest java 6 v26 and it tells me that it is already installed and would i like to uninstall and then reinstall bet then it tells me that i cannot do this because java is not installed... I know, its weird so please help.

best regards,
Doug.

Update

I finally got to uninstall IE9 and went back to IE8. when i went to uninstall it yesterday it wasnt in the list but then today it showed up so that is fixed.

After rebooting i went back to Pogo and tried to play a game after uninstalling all the different versions that I had installed... java6 v23... 6 v24... & 6 v26 and then went to reinstall.

Firstly i got this message..

"This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it"?

I of course clicked "yes" and got this message.

"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"
