Windows 7 RC on Virtual PC 07

    Hey Guys!

I am running 32-bit Windows 7 (7100) on a virtual machine using Virtual PC 07. I have a couple of basic questions. Forgive my ignorance as I am new to the tech world:

Does Virtual PC use memory when the application itself is closed? I would assume that when Virtual PC is closed it isn't utilizing the 1 gig I allocated to it, thus my host machine is free to use that gig.

I am having internet connection problems on the virtual machine. To my knowledge, it only shows a LAN connection. Could anyone shed some light on how the virtual PC connects to the net? Does it recognize my host machines wireless adapter?

Thanks in advance for any answers!

    Steed,
I have about the same thing running under XP Pro, but no wireless.

If Virtual PC is not running, no memory resources are used.

Internet connection was my 'toughest' area.
I found that under Edit > Settings, you select 'Networking',
then on the Right (Drop-down box), select:

"Shared networking (NAT)" is what worked for me...

I have the Virtual Machine Additions installed, for access to my real HDD.

    Hope this helps!

Hello Steed and welcome to the Se7enforums!

When installing 7 and just about to arrive at the desktop for the first time probably the last item will be selecting home, workplace, or public. The correct one there for most is the home network option. For an ethernet connection you should be able to get right online with it set that way. For any usb connection or dial-up?

We do have the opposite situation however. Vista Home Premium 32bit is on one out of two 64bit 7 installations while the 32bit RC is running on the other 64bit 7 installation with the new Virtual PC beta aviaiable. Both see the new XP mode in use as well without any connection problems.
