"for now" Thats all I'm saying. It might work for now, but in the future it might just become way too expensive to maintain verses upgrading.

logicearth, you're correct on the one assumption, one day it may no longer work, but then those of us who've spent much resource on these past technologies will do what we need to do then, but please don't tell people ('specially me) how or what to do, as if you had all the answers--you have only the answers for yourself; and I'm on this board looking for answers for me, not anyone else.

If you do not want people to tell you want to do, then you shouldn't ask people want you should do...Besides. I'm not forcing anyone to do ANYTHING. So I don't see why you have such a problem, I'm not forcing you to do anything.

I have a problem with negative people who rain on other people's parades. So, I will leave this forum to you and will find a friendlier forum to get my questions answered; and to those you on here that have been helpful, thank you.

ogicearth thanks for your input. I understand your solution is great, you must be doing very well in life to buy every new thing that comes out. As I understand your decision to not help the OP with a WORKABLE answer maybe you will consider financing your answer. I my case I only need $6,000 to upgrade my software, well that's not counting the programs that are no longer made. So in the case of companies that closed 20 years ago I might need a little more money to find, rent space, rehire staff, well it will run into a few dollars, but I am sure you are dedicated to your answer. Your several posting say how sure you are you are right, and I always envy people who stand behind their opinions. Donald Trump is like that, he would finance the upgrade of old software, or pay for the retraining of all the employees which I am sure you are ready to do. How does everyone with old versions contact you for some money.

One thing you might want to try is to reduce the printer share name to 8 character of less and see if that helps. With some of the old DOS stuff, it is better to stick with 8 char limit for shares, file names etc.

Thanks for the reminder, I forgot about 8.3, it might be a factor. I have two programs that need to print and DOSPrint worked for the first one. Now I need to change settings in the DOS CONFIG sys file that Windows uses so the second one will even run.

Glad I found that suggestion from someone. Thanks to the board
