Windows 7: Tweaking XP Mode

Windows 7 x64 (Build 7600 RTM)
Tweaking XP Mode

Can I tweak my virtual environment (XP Mode) the way I would if I had an actual installed copy of XP on my hard drive? What I mean to say is, can I tweak which services are running and what not? My hope is that I might be able to speed up the virtual environment since it is a bit sluggish.

Yes. Be conservative with network services and do not disable remote desktop or terminal services.

That's really a touch and go situation while most desktop tweaks for appearance and limiting startup items depending what programs you install will have a bearing. The amount of memory allocate can play a role too at times.

The thing to remember about the VPC whether it's the XP mode or a custom install of anything else like the 32bit Windows. Linux, etc. is that it was never intended to be a performance value but mainly for compatibility options.

The one thing that will also play a role is the actual hardware on your system as well as any Windows tweaking. I've been running the 32bit 7 RC on a vhd on the VPC as well as the XP mode making comparisons even running them simultaneously together.

What's the name of this certain App? It had a black background/GUI, and it could tweak parts of W7, like disabling the Watermark, adding the "Take Control" thing on right-click menus, enabling DreamScenes, etc.
