I'm surprised at the 60GB default for win 7. I think last time I installed it in VMPlayer it was 40. It doesn't really matter because the virtual disks (the .vmdk files) only occupy the space actually used.

I think you may be out of luck. I tried posting in a private thread asking for more help but no takers. I'll try again.

Moving VM to Another PC

Hello Every one, i have set up a virtual machine on my Secondary Machine, i installed VM ware player 4.0 on my external HD, with a short cut to my desktop,

I created 3 separate folders on my EXT HD one for WIN 7, one for W2008 Server and one for WIN 8,, each folder has a single VM file in them, and everything is working ok,

I am planning to go to my Primary Machine in a few weeks, my question is, if i install VM ware player on my Primary Machine, will i still be able to use the current set up on the EXT HD ?

there is 2 partitions on my Secondary Machine, and i have 3 Partitions on my Primary Machine,

Thanks in advance.

Yes. You should be able to use the "Open a Virtual Machine" function and navigate to your external drive and import the vmx file.

Thanks for the quick reply, the vmx file is already on my External HD. i should not have to import it, my EXT HD will be attached to my Primary Machine.

yes but your new installation of VMPlayer will not know about it so you will need to open the vmx as I described.
