Windows 7 64bit and virtual XP USB port access

I have installed Windows XP Mode on my windows 7 (64bit) machine so that I am able to talk to my Canon 5d via USB (Canon doesn't support 64bit drivers for the 5D).

To be able to see the USB ports I need to Select "USB->11n Adaptor->Attach" once selected the virtual machine pops a bubble up "Found New Hardware 11n" and launches the New Hardware Wizard. The problem is that by this stage it has already grabbed the USB port controller from the host win 7 machine (on which my USB wireless network connector sits). This means that the virtual XP machine loses it's internet connection and cannot load the driver.

I could load the driver manually but (a) I'm not 100% sure which driver to install and (b) I'm not sure that installing it would solve all my issues

Is anyone able to shed some light?

Hi Dicky, welcome to the Seven Forums.

It seems that you attach the wrong USB. Attaching the WiFi adapter is unnecessary, the XP Mode shares the host system's (windows 7) Internet having its own virtual network adapter and does not need an additional network adapter. You need to attach the printer USB from the XP Mode USB menu.
