Vmware does not open images

Hello,

I use windows 7 x64. The following issue happens both on Vmware 7 and 8
I cannot open or create any virtual machines. tried creating a virtual machine, I click finish but nothing shows up.
The virtual machine does not appear in the library. When I try to close vmware it says that the virtual machine is busy.
The same happens when I try to open a virtual machine.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hi there
How did you create / install the Virtual OS.
Note also for vmware workstation 8 you need to add your user id to this group __vmware__. (TWO underscores each side and no full stop at the end). If you don't do this you can only run vmware workstation 8 in "Administrator" mode.

If you run the Create Virtual Machine wizard you should start to see something like this screen shot enc.

Incidentally you might see that there is a file in your Virtual Machine directory labelled *****.lck where ***** is your virtual machine name.

This is a LOCK file that can be deleted -- if this exists it will tell vmware workstation that the Virtual Machine you are trying to open is busy.

Cheers
