XP Mode install doesn't show in Program Files

I am following the instructions at:
    Download Windows XP Mode

"Once you have installed Windows XP Mode, click the Windows 7 Start button, then select All Programs > Windows Virtual PC > Windows XP Mode to begin setup."

    Or, per their email instructions:
Step 1: Download Windows XP Mode
Step 2: Download Windows Virtual PC
Step 3: Update Windows XP Mode (this step apparently unnecessary since I have SP-1)

I downloaded and installed XP Mode .... but there is no Windows Virtual PC in my start menu. I looked in the Program Files > Windows XP Mode and all that's there is a Tutorial folder, two text files and a file named "Windows XP Mode base.vhd"

I read somewhere else that maybe I should have restarted my machine ?? (that's not in the instructions from MS) and I have done that, but still nothing.

    Hello Tcloud,

You might double check using the tutorial below to see if it may be able to help.
That's correct and what should only be in the Program Files > Windows XP Mode folder.

You would run XP Mode by opening the Start Menu > All Programs > Windows Virtual PC > and clicking on Windows XP Mode. This is the target path below that the shortcut runs to run XP Mode.

    Code:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\VMCPropertyHandler.dll,LaunchDefaultVM
    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thank you. That worked and it's downloading updates now.

Interesting that I had to download in IE rather than FF as validation hung in FF and never completed.

You're most welcome. That is strange. Hopefully it'll get sorted in the next release of FF.
